🚨 Prime farmland should grow food—not disappear.

Today, alongside @epaleezeldin and @johnrich , I sent a formal letter to @GovKathyHochul demanding answers about New York’s decision to fast-track industrial solar projects on some of America’s most productive farmland.

When prime farmland is lost, it’s gone forever. That’s land our farmers depend on, land that feeds our families, and land that strengthens our nation’s food security.

Governor Hochul has 30 days to explain why New York is moving away from USDA’s prime farmland standards and what it’s doing to protect these irreplaceable agricultural resources.

Under President Trump, we’re putting America’s farmers first, protecting our food supply, and preserving the land that feeds our nation.

The East Coast is united to stop offshore wind turbines. #osw. US Wind’s Maryland offshore project is routing cables & substations through Delaware’s beaches, bays, and Estuary of National Significance. Delaware shouldn’t bear the environmental burden for another state’s energy project.
Please intervene to protect our nationally significant waters, wildlife, coastal heritage, & national security. America’s estuaries and communities deserve better. Thank you for standing up for our coasts!

In 2014, 300 scientists warned Anthony Fauci would start a global pandemic.

So far there are up to 8 billion solar panels and 1.3 million standard turbine equivalents.

Eventually, each one will degrade into its constituent parts. On such a massive scale, recycling becomes an economic impossibility. Dismantling these mass-produced components costs far more than the recovered materials are worth. Ultimately, it might be landfill for the lot.

The industry boasts that solar panels are '95% recyclable'. Technically, yes - because they are made of glass, aluminum and copper. But economics always trumps physics. In Australia and the US, it costs roughly $20 to $28 to properly disassemble and recycle a single panel, but only about $4 to dump it in landfill.

Because there is no financial incentive, up to 90% of decommissioned panels already go straight into landfill. Each panel is an industrial 'sandwich' bound tightly by heavy polymers. To extract the microscopic amounts of valuable silver and high-purity silicon requires energy-intensive chemical and thermal baking.

When they are crushed or left to fracture in landfills, heavy metals like lead and cadmium can leach into the surrounding soil and groundwater, turning 'clean energy'. This creates a multi-generational hazardous waste problem.

Because solar cells degrade and lose efficiency, and because newer, cheaper panels are hitting the market, consumers and solar farms are ripping out functional systems at least a decade early to upgrade.

This becomes a subsidised treadmill.
