While 133 hardworking folks at the Colowyo coal mine in Moffat County get pink slips starting today -- January 1, 2026 -- our state's green zealots pat themselves on the back for "saving the planet."

This closure isn't progress; it's a ritual sacrifice on the altar of the climate cult, dooming families to unemployment and gutting local economies.

Moffat County faces up to 437 total job losses, a 43% drop in property taxes, and ripple effects hitting suppliers, schools, and small businesses. These miners, many lifelong Coloradans, built their lives on coal. Now? They're collateral damage in a virtue-signaling crusade.

But here's the kicker: the world isn't joining the party. Global coal demand hit a record 8.8 billion tons in 2024, up 1.5% from 2023, and it's set to plateau at near-record levels through 2026. China? They're guzzling 4.9 billion tons this year, a 1% increase, building new plants like it's 1950. India? Demand surged 10% to 1.245 billion tons in 2023, and it's still climbing. Indonesia? Up 150% since 2015. Asia-Pacific accounts for 77% of global use, with these giants offsetting every Western cutback.

We're shutting down clean, regulated U.S. operations while empowering polluting behemoths abroad. Emissions? Barely a blip globally. Jobs? Devastated locally. 

This isn't environmentalism; it's economic suicide disguised as heroism. Colorado's phasing out coal by 2030, but without real alternatives. We're just exporting pollution and importing poverty.

It's stupid because unilateral disarmament in the energy wars achieves zilch. Injust because these miners aren't pawns; they're people with mortgages, kids, and dreams crushed for a feel-good policy that ignores reality.

Demand justice: rethink this madness before more communities crumble. The cult's altar demands blood, but why ours?

Where's @GovofCO? Where are Sens. Hickenlooper and Bennet? Where's Colorado's invisible (except when Trump must be sued) AG @pweiser? Threaten a few cushy "climate scientist" gigs in Boulder and they're out on the picket lines, pumping their fists and waiving mindless placards in protest. But it's all crickets from them when REAL Colorado jobs are being destroyed. Jobs in Boulder matter; jobs in Meeker, not so much.

Why is that? Because they are complicit in this job destruction. They want these Coloradans used as ritual sacrifices to the climate cult.
