They have $250,000 per citizen sitting in the fund. India has roughly $3,400 per citizen in forex reserves.

Norway is what you get when a small population sits on top of one of the largest per-capita oil discoveries in human history.

The right comparison is other low-income, high-population, post-colonial democracies. Brazil. Indonesia. Nigeria. Bangladesh. Pakistan. Egypt. Mexico. South Africa. Vietnam. Philippines.

Compare on these and India isn’t doing badly. It’s doing better than most.

UPI is the world’s largest real-time payments system.

Aadhaar is the world’s largest biometric identity system.

We absorbed the global pandemic, the Ukraine war, the West Asia conflict, Trump’s tariffs, the Iran war, and a rupee fall without going into recession.

Most of those countries above did. Pakistan went to the IMF 24 times. Sri Lanka collapsed. Bangladesh is unstable. Egypt needed emergency Gulf bailouts. Argentina has 60% inflation. We stayed standing.

India is the only country in human history to add a trillion dollars of GDP every 18 months. We added our first trillion in 2007. Our second in 2017. Our third in 2024. Our fourth coming in 2026.

The problems you mentioned exist in every large, low-income, high-density country on earth.

Mexico City’s pollution is worse than Delhi’s.
Manila’s traffic is worse than Mumbai’s.
Lagos has worse road quality than Delhi.
Jakarta has worse air than Delhi.
Cairo has worse adulteration.
Karachi has more corruption.
Hanoi has higher pollution.

None of these countries are run by Modi. They’re all dealing with the same impossible math.

Industrialising a country of 145 crore people during a global energy transition, with limited natural resources, while keeping democracy intact, is the single hardest governance challenge in human history.

Living here is an absolute nightmare:

• Zero Adrenaline: Women are just casually roaming around at 2 AM eating ice cream without fearing for their lives or dodging intense police naka bandis. Where is the survival thrill?

• No Linguistic Pride: If you don't speak Gujarati, nobody even threatens to beat you up or smash your shop's signboards. They just awkwardly reply in broken Hindi. Absolutely no passion!

• No Traffic Trauma: The roads are so wide and well planned that you actually reach your destination in 20 minutes. How am I supposed to finish my audiobooks or rethink my life choices during a 3 hour bumper to bumper commute?

• Missing Action: Someone bumps into your vehicle, and they just say sorry and pay you instead of pulling out a hockey stick. No street fights, no "Tu jaanta nahi mera baap kaun hai." So dull.

• Zero Aesthetic Culture: No underground drug or Udta Punjab vibes. Just boring, safe, sober families existing everywhere.

Honestly, it’s unbearable. Please stay in your happening metro cities, enjoy spending half your life in traffic and keep breathing that sweet AQI 1000 air.

I've been reading and hearing so many things about that dowry case and it triggered my emotions because I went through divorce.

When people asked did he hit you, were they asking about dowry? None were the case.

But I was being asked should I call your father when I got up at 10 am the first morning after marriage because we slept at 4 am and they said "I was just joking."

I was intimidated in the name of worry that if I don't cook good food the father has the capacity of throwing the plate. Everyone commented on my clothes.

My parents were dragged into every single conversation, always asking she doesn't want to live with us, when clearly I had so many times I wanted a family because I came from a nuclear family and missed siblings being a single child.

I was being emotionally abused and I couldn't explain to anyone why I wanted out during my fifth month of pregnancy. No one understood how emotionally traumatising it could have been. The smile I am famous for just faded in six months I stayed there.

The day I said I don't want to continue the legal battle and end it here and sign divorce papers, no one was happy but I was. Because the mental torture of leaving your work just to make someone pay for things they did emotionally to me was even more mentally excruciating. I chose myself over the exhaustion.

Girls, don't give up on relationships but if it starts making an impact on your self respect, don't stop leaving either.

P.S.- I am a work in progress but the smile definitely came back.

Landed in AI 2630 in Mumbai from BLR earlier today, to learn that the 'flash strike' by the ground staff of @CSMIA_Official had paralysed operations.
So, could not get off the plane for 30 mins or so. Even though the step ladder was there, there was no one drive the bus to it!
The Captain was apologetic even as he explained the situation, the crew was wonderful as always, and it was an Air India staffer who finally brought the bus to take us to the terminal.
In many other countries, with many other airlines, this would not have happened.

When you arrive at Ahmedabad or Surat Railway Station for boarding train, you enter the complex & cab/auto drops you exactly in front of stairs wherever you want. There are different designated lanes for aito, commercial cab, private cab, and even buses.

When you arrive at Ahmedabad or Surat railway station from outside, you get out of station, can choose any auto standing there, agree with fare & leave within 5 min, or book a app based cab, board and leave without paying any parking charges.

But In Howrah, when you arrive for boarding, you are forced to stop approx 100-200m away from entrance because of such encroachments. At first glance 100-200m won't look like much, but imagine the same distance with a senior citizen or heavy luggage.

Also when you have to board a cab after arriving at Howrah, either stand in a line at prepaid counter, book a cab from govt based app, wait for cab to arrive, then you are allowed to board one by one as the line moves.

By chance you say I don't want to stand in line, let's book ola/uber etc, then walk 500+m to the parking, board it, pay 80 rs parking charges for the same.

Encroachment is removed, I hope new government will also develop the cab lanes & booking facilities soon for smootherband fast experience...
