@LarsenOnFilm Great year for the surreal ! I think my favorite is 'The Holy Mountain' which is one of the rare movies I could watch three times in a row and the third viewing would likely be the most meaningful. Also have the shout out 'Fantastic Planet' for it's significance in animation.
@Lev_B_@trishtaylor@laurie_merrell These folks are lying to themselves if they think the nature scene in Chicago compares to other parts of the country. It's got great parks, rivers, ponds, lakes etc but you have to drive a long distance to get a decent hike. It's the one big downside, the rest is truly great
I think about these two and a half pages from Norm Macdonald’s book constantly. When I reviewed it, I wrote that they would “make for a fine eulogy”—and I swear I didn’t mean anything by it. But they do.
There’s nothing romantic and beautiful about artists being broke and depressed. When you can’t get out of bed and create and do the one thing that makes you happy it’s a real shame.
Around 378 million of you told us to make Smiling Friends. So we’re making Smiling Friends with @MichaelRCusack and @psychicpebble and it’s coming this year. Yay!
I drew Caleb and Nott in the style of Calvin and Hobbes, because why not combine two of your favorite things? This is how I pictured it in my head from the start. #criticalrole
@filmspotting A Monster Calls didn’t get a theatrical release in my city until 2017, so I don’t know if that counts, but there was definitely someone cutting onions in the theater of that under-seen gem.
Polygondwanaland does not belong to us. Anyone can sell it. make money off it. listen to it. sync it. put it in there movie. play it at their party. whatever they want.
The fact that Trump has lifted President Obama's ban on elephant trophies being imported into the country is a devastating blow to the survival of these beautiful animals. It's savage and pointless. It breaks my heart.
