We are constantly given the lie that decisions of mass life and death made by a handful of empowered narcissistic men represent democracy. Surely, democracy should not be confined to historical decisions based on misinformation, propaganda and manipulation. Genuine democracy should be dynamic and constantly adapting to shifting events and opinion.

Currently, in the U.K., the tories are polling at only 19% compared to Labour’s 45%, yet Sunak is boldly making public statements on our foreign policy, in the wake of escalating aggression between Israel and Iraq, as if he currently represents the U.K. population. He clearly doesn’t. He’s not even an elected leader. Not even by his own miserable party.

If we consider the fact that Trump, a notorious liar and proven criminal, was commander-in-chief of America (as president you literally have the SOLE responsibility and decision of firing nuclear weapons at anyone you don’t like at any time) and may well be again, it clarifies how ridiculously unsafe so-called democracy can be.

Democracy without an educated and informed population constantly monitoring and potentially overriding the decisions of those in power is meaningless and dangerous.

War is waged by arrogant, foolish men in suits who perceive the world as a game board with expendable pieces. Without reliable information, responsible, transparent and honest reporting of global events and political education, democracy no longer empowers intelligence, compassion, humanity and wisdom. Instead, we hand control of our lives to opportunistic idiots riding their notoriety and undeserved celebrity to authority.

I am waiting for the day when democracy reflects justice, global equity, community and empathy for all. Partisan support for reckless and cruel aggression, whilst children are dying everyday, will never reflect the aspirations of an enlightened population. “War” is a word used to disguise the most negligent abuse of power.
