2 common user research failure modes:

1: Team does ad-hoc research. Insights don't line up with decisions that need to be made. "Research is useless."

2: PM makes decision, then tries doing research to justify it. Insights don't line up with assumptions. "Research is useless."

@IamAustinYang I guess it’s less about trying to hold people accountable and more about trying to inform other aspects of the business that rely on roadmap information

@IamAustinYang The timebox gives you another increment of measurement. If the team typically does 20 points per sprint then it’s unrealistic to think they’ll accomplish 60 points in 2 sprints. However 35 points seems more realistic and therefore we can communicate that to the field.

@lawjolla @gem_ray I agree with this. Why can’t a CEO either know their weaknesses or hire someone who has navigated a similar situation successfully? I also have tremendous respect for founders that step down because it’s for the greater good of the company.
