I build design teams, write about UX, & nerd out on accessibility + ethics. Author of The UX Design Field Book. Helping 50k+ designers do better work, together.
What started as a short story about a Golden Retriever defeating a 2,000,000-strong alien imvasion force has gotten wildly out of hand.
Now I'm finally deep enough into writing my first novel I'm ready to talk about it. At 22,000 words, it's now not a matter of if I finish it, but when. #writing #novelwriting #letsdothis

This is a sacred space in the locker room. It's not about ego. It's not about proving a point. It's about having space to put on the gear that you need to go out and stand in front of pucks for the better part of an hour.
This is the goalie area that gives us enough room to spread out all of our stuff, which just by mass is usually about double to what a normal skater wears. It gives us enough room to put on our leg pads and spread out the remainder of our gear so that we can find what we need.
It also gives us a beeline to the door so that we don't have to step over bags, sticks, and anything else that might be in our way.
Goalies don't usually ask for much more than a chance to go out, have fun, and prove themselves worthy of standing in front of frozen pieces of rubber flying at frightening speeds.
Show us some respect and give us a break. Leave the bench closest to the door or the small bench that was obviously made for it open for your goalie.

@imdatlame0@OCFireAuthority@CityGardenGrove@GavinNewsom@KTLA@ocregister We might know, if only the current administration hadn't shut down the US Chemical Safety and Hazards Investigations Board, the agency that had the sole purpose of investigating these types of accidents. https://t.co/zRCPEQPXOp
Last week, I left #UX#design - and employment in the #tech world in general - for good.
Even as I change career paths, my commitment to you will be the same as ever - here to help and guide anyone in the UX community who asks, however you might need it.
More thoughts to come on the career shift. For now, I'm feeling grateful for the 16 years I spent working with great people, for amazing users of superb products, aiming to make the world a little more useable, one interaction at a time.
#AI is a tool.
Not a crutch.
Not a replacement.
Not a coworker.
Use it to automate, reduce workload, and grease the wheels of your process. But don't remove the human from the designs. #UX#design
