Gave my first lesson in baseball today to my English husband. I drew pictures. I explained the strike zone with pictures. It was going well until he asked if all the fielders also batted. I said they did in the NL, but not the AL. I then taught him that the DH sucks.
@notgaetti Old school me doesn't like the idea. But if I divorce myself from that thinking, there's good sense in it. But @jimolwine makes a good point below - where was the pitcher? Going further, if players aren't doing their jobs, do we introduce measures to make up for that?
@RockyLotito@notgaetti New name to me! I had to look him up. His nickname apparently comes from hitting two crucial homers during the 1911 World Series.
@tomabernathy Disagree that it was a bad idea. Not totally, anyway. Gone is the strategy that managers had to think about when the pitcher's spot came up.
@notgaetti@tigers Speaking of celebs and baseball, I always found it amusing that Elton John is a big Braves fan. I know he likes sports, though. He got into them when he owned a home in Atlanta. https://t.co/ZUJPwRlztQ
