Album Review for Papercut by Imani Imani
The newest artist to pgLang has her debut album and I think it’s safe to say I speak for everyone when I say…
This MF is GOOD.
Imani really is a talented artist who knows how to layer the fuck outta some vocals man. She already is a good singer so that helps, but in addition to being a good singer she’s an amazing vocalist as well. The way she harmonizes and expands her voice on these tracks really is something that makes her stand out. Her pacing is impeccable because she can give you a slow jam, but then she is also able to give you a more upbeat sound that you can groove to as well.
Now her hooks are really solid. “You’re Mine” being that one standout hook that’s so damn catchy that you just catch yourself singing it over and over. A song like “Chasing” makes you feel warm because of the lyrics and the fact that you can hear the passion within each word being sung.
The production on the project really does allow her voice to shine as you don’t have beats that take over the whole track. You have the excellent use of keys and drums as well. The quality of melodies is really impressive as well. Overall, for a debut project, this is pretty damn good. Not a single skip. This is something that needs to be done more in the R&B space. I highly recommend you check this project out if you get the chance.
Favorite Tracks: Snatch, You’re Mine, Slideee, Chasing
Final Score: 9.8/10
I PRAY that Latto and Cardi don’t let these parasocial fans and internet losers hype up a non-existent beef. It’s really not that deep and can be resolved in private since they have each other’s numbers.
Y’all are about to do way too much today.
I can see it.
I truly understand how you feel…and that’s exactly why I chose to apologize publicly because the disrespect became public. On that call I didn’t even mean to call you that, I didn’t mean any harm.. There’s a difference in what I said vs what I meant. What I could have said was you was too forgiving and gave too much mercy in that situation.. But it was a heated conversation and I let my mouth get the best of me. When the call came out I was eight months pregnant, had just released my album, and was extremely overwhelmed and emotional. Thats not to excuse what I said but to let you know where I was in my head. I genuinely felt bad about what happened. In 2025 and 2026 I made multiple attempts to connect…I spoke with your manager, your sister, and even texted you directly to take full responsibility. I always had love and respect for you ! I always wanted to make it right but making it right looks different for the both of us… I wanted to connect with you but you wanted to address it on your album
It really amazes me how people let their ego rule them. Cus what do you mean you don’t wanna block someone who has disrespected you or caused you harm because you want them to “see you doing well” ?? That’s crazy as hell to me.
