RFK’s anti-vaxx group sued the American Academy of Paediatrics.

Their lead plaintiff was a mother who claimed she found her 18-month-old twins dead in their bed. She said it was vaccines.

Now she’s been charged with murder. Police say she suffocated them.

Think about how stupid anti-vaxxers are. They thought that vaccines killed two twins at the exact same time. What a remarkable coincidence!

The anti-vaxxers are not backing down, and still claim that vaccines killed the twins. They’re now saying that vaccines caused the suffocation!

This is part of a larger pattern, of anti-vaxxers blaming vaccines for cases that are actually child abuse.

These people are the worst, and should be driven from polite society. Instead, their most famous spokesman is head of HHS.

In Germany, a talented 14-year-old earns his club money. In America, his parents pay the club $15,000 a year.

That single inversion explains why "we will not" is the most accurate line ever written about US soccer.

FIFA built a global system for this. Training compensation and solidarity payments send a cut of every transfer fee back to the clubs that developed the player, from age 12 onward. Develop one future pro and your academy gets paid for a decade. Barcelona's La Masia, Ajax, every Bundesliga academy runs on this logic. The kid is the asset.

US Soccer refuses to enforce those rules. When Seattle's Crossfire Premier claimed its $60,000 share of DeAndre Yedlin's transfer to Tottenham, it got nothing. Claims on the Dempsey and Bradley transfers died partly because the federation couldn't even produce the youth training records.

So American clubs earn zero dollars when a kid turns pro. They earn when a kid enrolls. Which makes the parent the customer, and the product is whatever keeps the parent writing checks: travel tournaments, hotel weekends, $500 showcase events, private training at $100 an hour. Elite pathways run $8,000 to $20,000 a year. A comparable academy spot in Italy costs about 120 euros.

Follow the incentive one level deeper and it gets darker. A club dependent on fees can't cut its weakest paying players, so rosters optimize for retention over development. The scouting pool shrinks to families who can afford the cliff, which appears around age 11, exactly when development matters most. The country runs a talent filter sorted by household income instead of ability.

Every four years someone proposes fixing this. The proposal always requires the people profiting from the $15,000 model to vote themselves out of business.

They will not.

Here’s the story you might have heard: In 2020, “journalist” David Leavitt found a $90 Oral B electric toothbrush hanging on a display peg with a $0.01 price tag on it.

He told the store manager she had to honor the price under Massachusetts law. When she refused, he took a picture of her and posted it to his 300,000 followers and called the cops.

The Internet did not take his side, and the incident ended with a ratio for the ages and a GoFundMe campaign to send the store manager on a vacation.

Yglesias with an interesting way of looking at Trump's corruption.

We think that it's something he just gets away with and there are no consequences.

But if you think about it as his main priority, it's where he's spending his political capital.

Every president decides to spend it somewhere.

But most presidents have some kind of policy ambition, while Trump just wants to get as much money as possible and punish his enemies. So it's not costless, but a replacement for what would traditionally be an administration's agenda.

This is rich coming from her. Here's a personal story of the irony here: 2007, CH does The Tonight show w Jay Leno. She makes fun of Angelina Jolie & her newly adopted son, 3 yr old Pax, who is Asian.

CH: “He probably doesn’t even realize he’s Asian yet! He certainly doesn’t know he’s going to be a horrible driver… or that he’s going to be amazing at doing nails!”

The next few days there was plenty of outrage, disappointment & accusations of racism levied against NBC.

2 weeks later, I'm booked on The Tonight Show & I've already had my set approved. I was told, I can't tell any of my jokes because of the blowback of her hacky, racist jokes. Yes, I couldn't tell jokes about being Asian because she did so much damage making fun of Asians.

Then, weeks later of 2007, I performed at a showcase where CH was present. Prior to, I had never spoken to, met or interacted with her & as I was wrapping up my set, I mentioned her in the crowd? It's odd to see a comedian sitting in a showcase watching w audience, so I mentioned it in passing. She then yelled out "you're doing a great little Asian job".

MY POINT: I personally know Shane & Tony aren't racist. In fact, I don't think Chelsea is racist. Sure, she's got a long history of promiscuity, an affinity for day drinking, publicly stated she's prescribed a healthy dose of anti depressants, rumored to be awful to work for or with, has a punch card to a plastic surgeon, accused of punching down in her comedy, never been married or had kids & lives alone in her 50s, had dinner with Jeffrey Epstein but c'mon gang, she's not racist.
