Visitor guide book for the town of St Osyth published in 1914 by the reverand and secretary of the Essex Archaeology Society featuring The Cage. The Cage has been a treasured landmark in the town for over a century since its closure.

We have rediscovered the original planning documents for the late 20th-century rebuild of The Cage - Not only does it allow us to further debunk a few rumours circulating online about the property, but we now know exactly who did it, when they did it, and why!

This is an original Constable's Handbook from 1875. It details information for the Constable with regards to the use of cages, a solid record of the use of these lockups late into the 19th century. This will be one of many artifacts on display at The Cage later this year.

We're pleased to announce this week we unveiled a memorial plaque for those who suffered the witch trials of St Osyth in 1582. It sits in Dead Lane which runs adjacent The Cage. and is freely accessible to the public, so we invite all to come and pay their respects.
