Since 2022 we’ve lost over 5 hrs a week of continuing drama. These shows offer regular opportunities to staff, freelancers and jobbing actors. More importantly they are an access point for talent both sides of the camera. No replacements are coming through to fill the void…🤷♂️
@AdamLenson yeah this is very odd to me. by the logic of this nomination, shows like “newsies” last year could have been up for best new musical which absolutely discredits new musical theatre. it also highlight how little opportunity there is for new musicals in town & the uk generally.
only as i’ve gotten older have i come to appreciate my involvement in amateur dramatics as a working class teenager. i actually learnt so much, and saw so many incredible shows without having to pay through the roof.
