All these policies and examples apply to #England alone,so why the 'Britain' narrative? Because for British nationalism, one of its definitive elements is the replacement of '#England' by 'Britain'. England must not have its own national political identity.https://t.co/MX16n1DFlf
@WRCharlie437766@RobinTilbrook No, we're a democracy, you're allowed to feel British rather than English.
By the same token, the English are allowed to reject a PM (and de facto first minister of England) that has no feeling for England.
@ConHome@LukeGrahamUK Due to asymmetric devolution, the Union is even more of an Anglo-centric construct than it once was, with the PM being the UK PM and de facto first minister of England. Similarly, the UK Parliament also double-jobs as England's parliament.
It doesn't work.

@edwest Simon De Montfort had his testicles chopped off and hung around his nose? I grew up in Kenilworth and we learned about De Montford at school. They never taught us that.
@spikedonline "The hopes of Celtic nationalists rest on framing a now probable Reform government as an English nationalist party, the Westminster state assuming its final, most reductive, and cartoonish form." - Aris Roussinos.
@Innealadair@MarkBarry67 He says Britishness was inspired by people who live in the Borders. I recently listened to @jameshawes2 on the Byline Times' podcast in which he says that British identity was an elite creation for the plantation of Ireland.

It's been a long road.
Back in 2010, I had an idea: a marketplace where English producers could sell directly to the public.
I underestimated the scale.
So this year I started smaller, with what we do best - food and drink.
Nearly six months on, https://t.co/eWD8weWXHH is almost live.
The mission is simple. Promote the purchase of English-made products. Help English makers thrive. Support jobs, shorten supply chains, and build a place people instinctively think of when they want to buy something made here in England.
It's been exhausting at times. But I can finally feel excited about what comes next.
