@Krow07100473@staxringold@stop_lacroix@kevinsmurray@mtgreenee@AOC When I was 9, I thought it was a "Handburger". My mother laughed at me "it's not got hands in it!", but my logic was that it was a burger that you hold in your hand.
Makes more sense than a "hamburger" that has no ham in it anyway ๐๐
@flickamad@Pirat_Nation I'm of the opinion that selling skins is just about the most friendly cash extortion method a games company can enact.
I won't buy them, actively dislike that nonsense, but some folks absolutely love it and get joy from having them.
@UncleBeezie@BearlyLiberal I know what caramelise means, I'm just checking you guys are using it in the same way, as I'm baffled by the idea of expecting the pub landlord who puts out these cheese and onion rolls to instead stand there tending to onions for an hour.
@mattsart7@Strippin Yep. Typically in local working class pubs that don't serve cooked food, or for later in the evening when the kitchen is closed.
It keeps the drinkers drinking, rather than going off to find food elsewhere.
+ after a lot of bitter/ale, this is just the sort of taste you need
@mattsart7@Strippin Caremelising onions takes about an hour. Can you comprehend the difference in effort for my local boozer's sweaty landlord in terms of prep time?
That's ignoring how these actually cut through after 6 pints of ale have coated your mouth. A greasy melted version just would do it
@HasimpKing@IWllNvrBeAnEloi@BaileyStan12@CashblightGanon Our traditional pubs are mostly over 100 years old and not really designed to fit much beyond drinking paraphernalia behind the bar
Also bear in mind the strong communal drinking culture here. We're not out for food: we're out for drinks. Any food is just supporting the drinking
@dthadirector I think that's because the circumstances in which this sort of sandwich would be sat there on the bar actually precludes the possibility of it being cooked.
I.e. kitchenless pub, or late night pub where the kitchen has shut down.
Plus, these hit hard when you're 6-10 pints deep
@nathano235 I very occasionally make one at home, and they're great, but I have to say that my one experience of being 6 pints deep at a pub that has them at the bar was actually otherworldly.
@AtwinGracie2002 I've only actually once been in a pub that served these, and I gotta tell you it really did hit.
I actually still talk about it from time to time, just how good it was and how more pubs should do it. So it's amusing to see the quite contrary reaction on twitter ๐
@sir_top_and_hat@PLAION_UK@NEOGEO_EN Garou or Metal Slug x, probably.
I have a personal soft spot for, the original, KOF 94 due to fun arcade times whilst on holiday that year, but I can't claim it to even be one of the better KOFs. I do miss fixed teams though
@TheWapplehouse Do shitty bars serve food in the US?
Maybe they do, but here dingy pubs, and less dingy ones later in the evening when the kitchen is closed, will offer these as a cheap and cheerful option for soaking up the ale.
This is bad food, obvs, but it hits pretty good 7 pints in.
@PrimitiveStateT I've not truly loved a mario kart since the SNES one, tbh.
There again, I don't like 3d platformers, including Mario 64, and I've not played a 3D Zelda other than BOTW (which I didn't like)
So, keep Goldeneye and throw away any of the other three ๐
