You can feel tired, overwhelmed, uninspired, and still show up
That's what makes you unstoppable
You don't need to feel 100% every day to keep becoming who you said you'd be
Some days you're on fire and you show up, and that's what builds the belief in yourself
Teach kids to value and enjoy strength training, getting outdoors, and being active
Teach them the value of nutritious food
Or social media and marketing will teach your kids to diet to be thin, hate their bodies, and seek magic pills and quick fixes
The fitness industry loves to sell short-term program because they know people have short term attention spans.
But health and fitness need to be viewed as a lifelong journey.
Not a 4 week program, 8 week study, or 7 day detox.
Fitness should not be an unending test of willpower. That's a game you're going to lose.
It's much more important to find ways to exercise and eat foods that you enjoy, than to see how much you can endure.
You don't have to love all of it, but you need to enjoy most of it.
First it's an intention.
Then a behavior.
Then a habit.
Then a practice.
Then its second nature.
Then it's just who you are.
Behavior change is a challenging and lengthy process, damn does it feel good.
Excellent! This is the research we need: "Fostering positive affective exercise experiences and affect-related competencies for a physically active lifestyle". From the good colleagues at Bern and Tübingen.

The 3 most important skills you need to build and maintain a high level of fitness are mental, not physical:
Self awareness
Self restraint
Self motivation
A good coach and the right environment can help you find the shortest path to success, but no one can push you down it.
A good principle for everyone is to reinforce effort more than the results.
The only thing we have complete control over is the amount of effort we put in.
We have limited control over the outcome of our effort.
But you'll be proud of the outcome if your effort is there.
Maybe instead of focusing of LOSING weight all the time this time you focus on GAINING strength, muscle, knowledge, and confidence.
You might reach the same
destination, but one journey is a lot more constructive, inspiring, and sustainable.
We say knowledge is power, yet so many people suffer from each diet and training session.
Instead of viewing these activities as phases, consider them as lifetime learning opportunities.
Doing that, I'm way more confident in saying you'll be successful.
Fostering the 3 basic psychological needs will lead to long term adherence
Often the best coaches set high standards and convey a strong trust for their clients ability to meet them
This comes from rejecting power over them, leaving the client in control of their own progress
Coaches are educators.
Educators don't give students the problems to their answers. They point the way and lets learners make their own decisions.
Good coaches don't teach their clients how to move or what to eat.
They teach them how to learn to move and eat.
