“@DefuseSec thought of the Zcash users, the builders he had good memories of working with at ZODL, and specifically asking himself “What would Daira-Emma do?”
The question that always has the right answer.
Cheers 🥂 @feministPLT
Happy Birthday, Zcash!
It’s been 10 years since “the most uneventful launch ever.” Big thanks to the scientists, Satoshi, the Zcash builders, and the holders who’ve made it possible.

I guess it’s not really @Zcash if there’s no drama! 🎉🎉🎉
Happy 10th birthday to the Encrypted Bitcoin Satoshi would have wished to build himself but the cryptography wasn’t there yet.
Happy 10th birthday, Zcash! A decade of proving that privacy isn’t a feature, it’s a foundation for sound money. Proud to help secure the network, and excited for what the next decade will bring. Follow along at https://t.co/k9YogBW0xB
@wind0882@zReadyMouse@rollergirlVi I have also been wrong about other stuff as any other person. That's ok. Times and circumstances change. The important thing is to be intellectually honest and always look for the best outcome for Zcash.
Happy 10th birthday Zcash.
@zReadyMouse, @rollergirlVi and the ZECsy team are proving that Zcash is real unstoppable money and bring it to those who need it the most.
As @januszg_ said back when ZEC was 20 bucks, Zcash has no morals. He got most of it right. Look around.

@wind0882@zReadyMouse@rollergirlVi Hi, essentially I was right. People were discussing stuff without developing any use cases. Today ZSA remain an abstract development. Meanwhile Teams that focused on UX got the Shielded Pool to ATH.
I did not recall I was right on that one. Thank you.
10 years. Amazing.
It's a great day to celebrate how far we've come, leveraging the forces of nature and math, with good and clear-eyed people building for the betterment of the world.
To all of you who have joined this cause and worked so tirelessly, thank you.
10 years from now, shielded ZEC will be in the hands of billions.
Onward.
Happy 10th Birthday Zcashers.
Specially to the unsung heroes that went through rough days of sandblasting and privacy winter and kept ZODLing.
@Zcash is alive and kicking thanks to your courage and conviction.
Cheers!
It'd be a mistake to kill only one part of the dev fund.
If dissolved, then no half measures, dissolve it all, both the ZCG and coinholder streams. The coinholder stream accrues ~216 ZEC a day until the halving. Same problem.
Part of the reason for ZCG funding until the current ZIP was a governance balance. Part of it was to provide speculative funding for ideas that needed incubation.
Coinholder grants were a bridge away from direct funding when funding was scarce. It served its purpose.
If dev funding is no longer needed, a better market signal is the retirement of the entire fund. A half measure leaves the door open to ongoing debate and politics. Markets like certainty.
Redirect both streams to the NSM through the halving, as Sean's draft does for ZCG. ZCG honors every approved grant, then sends the rest to the NSM.
One proposed exception is a one-time endowment for a legal defense fund for Zcash developers, decided by coinholders.
Note: ZODL recently received a retroactive coin holder grant (non ZCG) for core protocol work and will apply for future grants if the fund still exists. My argument for a full, rather than partial retirement would eliminate that potential source of funding.
