Seeing fans claim that if you vent you don’t support the club and you should do one. That’s like saying you vote for a political party then blindly support every policy or decision they take. It’s not reality
It’s amazing all the black and white comments I’m seeing about City this morning. Football is not that simple and neither are the opinions around it. Here’s my take, with City as an example 1/?
People might vent on twitter buts it not to say, when they sit down to watch a game they don’t question in their mind or whoever they are with “it’s a bit odd such and such is playing rather than someone else”
@wr_ghty@bayliss_alex@henrywinter Not if it’s a 13 year old kid who’s just been given one as a birthday present, which is where half of this is aimed at
As a city fan I accept any tongue in cheek name newly given to our fixture with Newcastle. The Oil Derby. Petroderby etc. It’s a new derby for the league in any case. Was another born today? The Death Derby? The Ignorance Classico?
@barneyronay has written a fantastic piece on football’s paradox around Chelsea/Russia and Newcastle/Yemen. As a City you have to think, and I have thought, about ADUG’s position around human rights too.
@Iwasanmi_john @ciaren_ryan@this_is_amber@henrywinter It’s a fair point, but would you not just sing support for the club alone then, rather than the owner?
@COsoccerpod So the ESL then, except rather than a cartel, 20 of the teams will be the same anyway due to the almost bomb proof domestic power they now have
If there were a state backed Russian F1 team, that might be different. But there’s not. Haas are not Russian owned and have removed sponsorship linked to Russia. It’s end of story right? Am I missing something?
Mixed opinion for F1 allowing Russian drivers to compete still. I can’t see the issue. If a Russian footballer is at a non-Russian club, we wouldn’t expect he doesn’t play? The club would be penalised and disadvantaged unfairly right?
Reflecting on what FIFA sanctions mean and seeing a lot of, pedantry is the wrong word, but people making the point this isn’t the first illegal war ever.
Particular the UK, it’s allegiances to countries in other conflicts too. If we are going to apply a one size fits all, then it’s not to every Russian, it’s to every involved and responsible Russian when it comes to doing unethical and illegal things
