Some facts about the Oktoberfest which is starting today.

Waiters don’t get an hourly wage.

Official average: €5,000+ for 16 days.
Realistic range: €5,000–12,000. Top boxes with wine/champagne can go higher.

Catch: you front €1,500–3,500 for tokens, dirndl/lederhosen, trays. Broken mugs come out of your pocket.
Hard work: 10–16 hour shifts, 20k–50k steps, 10+ full Maß/mugs at once.
