my first patient today was I met a month ago who couldn’t stop crying… today they had a huge smile on their face and wanted to hug me because they felt so much better. 🥰🥰🥰 it’s ok to ask for help
@MaxWittMD @kidney_boy She would message me about the most obvious cases asking for help, including a super clear new onset diabetes in DKA. It scared the crap out of me that she was messaging me for help. My ICU experience has been invaluable just at knowing sick vs well.
@MaxWittMD @kidney_boy I completely agree!! Primary care seems like the hardest place, and I’m in nephrology which is no picnic hah. A colleague with only neuro experience went to pcp and left after 6 months for neuro. Much better fit.
@kidney_boy It’s also worth noting that the financial gap may actually be higher for testing cost since the reimbursement is generally less for APPs. The overburdening of Primary care is also likely contributing, the pcp I was offered planned to start me off at 15-20 pts per day.
@ttaboutmedicine@DrBradHolland I think it’s the job of all colleagues to support each other if there are perceived issues, particularly in healthcare. Regardless, this comment tells me enough to know there is nothing I can do to affect your opinion. I hope you have a great day!
@DrBradHolland Regardless, I will continue to take pride in my work and the culture in which I practice, and my choice to pursue the educational path that was most appropriate to me.
@DrBradHolland I have amazing physician colleagues who have been committed to my training and education, and it has been a huge benefit, as have my 11 previous years of ICU nursing experience. I feel fortunate to work with supportive people who see me as an asset, not a second class citizen.
