@AlexNeilSNP What percentage live in absolute comfort? There is a difference between protecting pensioners who live in poverty and taxing the young to the benefit of the affluent old which is what the current system does
@hugorifkind@DouglasCarswell Extant communities were once immigrants and at the time of his parents’ immigration there were plenty of people who would have happily denied them
@hugorifkind@DouglasCarswell No I’d disagree - with the second bit! Extant communities absolutely deserve the respect and protection but I do object to the “draw the line” border control argument. Where is that line drawn and how? Do we let Darfur refugees in but not DRC?
@hugorifkind@DouglasCarswell I really struggle with this. He is himself essentially only in existence because of immigration. I don’t really think you can say “it’s ok for my family to immigrate but not them.”
@montie@thetimes This is the epitome of the politics of false victim hood that Reform like to spout. The Times (plus radio) is a centre right paper, the Guardian is a left wing paper, the Daily Mail is a harder right wing paper. None of them have an obligation to espouse other views.
@CarlCashman You lost because you have no vision for the city, I say this as someone who voted for you. The last Lib Dem administration changed this city, I don’t see much at present other than “we’re less shit than labour”
@ScotRamsay Preferably with legal reason as to a. Nigel Farage owns a primary address in his constituency or b. He doesn’t
And the tax implications there of
@LBNdaily The pump fields is going to be an unbelievably wasted opportunity. A massive space adjacent to the commercial district, and it’ll just end up full of nondescript one and two bed apartments
@eneribehave Yeah, I see your point, but id say the other side is he’s wearing an everton shirt to try and say it’s not about rivalry, that’s irrelevant
@eneribehave Yeah, I get that and you’re right there’s better ways of doing it, but I don’t think this fella’s too wrong, just think he’s trying to make a nice point, that might have been made badly
@malonebarry I don’t like either of them but the difference is, Farage is deeply unlikeable but has taken his message to a wider market that feels unrepresented even if he’s selling snake oil. Sultana is deeply unlikeable but only wants to talk to people who share her opinion
