Compare Calvin Coolidge on America’s 150th anniversary:
“It is often asserted that the world has made a great deal of progress since 1776, that we have had new thoughts and new experiences which have given us a great advance over the people of that day, and that we may therefore very well discard their conclusions for something more modern. But that reasoning can not be applied to this great charter. If all men are created equal, that is final. If they are endowed with inalienable rights, that is final. If governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, that is final. No advance, no progress can be made beyond these propositions. If anyone wishes to deny their truth or their soundness, the only direction in which he can proceed historically is not forward, but backward toward the time when there was no equality, no rights of the individual, no rule of the people. Those who wish to proceed in that direction can not lay claim to progress. They are reactionary. Their ideas are not more modern, but more ancient, than those of the Revolutionary fathers."
@imasillyposter@AndrewKolvet The writer of this amendment made it clear that it wasn’t applicable to foreign alien, and the language of the amendment states “subject to the jurisdiction thereof.” They’re not subject to US jurisdiction if they’re not here legally.
All that without being a Gemini bootlicker
@AndrewKolvet If you think our enemies won’t use this decision to send people over here to give birth and have children that are citizens, I have a bridge to sell you….
If you think our enemies won’t use this decision to send people over here to give birth and have children that are citizens, I have something to tell you….
Upset with the SCOTUS decision today?
Call your senator at (202) 224-3121 and tell them to support my Constitutional Amendment to end Birthright Citizenship. We must protect the integrity of American citizenship.
The Right is never winning another election after today.
You couldn’t even get SAVE passed and now foreign nationals can claim citizenship if they were inside our borders when born.
This is the death of our republic.
🚨 WOW! Justice Alito is absolutely FUMING over SCOTUS giving the green light to birthright citizenship
"In my judgment, the court has made a mistake that will seriously affect the country's future."
"Suppose that a person's only connection to this country is that he was born here to a mother who was present just long enough to give birth and then quickly return to her native country.
Suppose that country is a strategic adversary or enemy of the United States. Suppose the child NEVER visited the United States while grow and was inculcated with hatred of this country.
According to this court, now, that person is a citizen of the United States. He can enter and leave the country as he pleases. He can travel the world on a United States passport.
Even if he plots to harm this country, he cannot be deprived of his status as a citizen, at least under current precedent." — Justice Samuel Alito in his dissent
SCOTUS strikes down Trump’s executive order on birthright citizenship, ruling that children of illegal aliens and foreign nationals born on US soil are American citizens
Barrett and Roberts both joined with the liberals
@SarahisCensored I doubt this stands in the long run because it likely gets struck down by courts, probably SCOTUS
That ruling could potentially be more damaging than any law passed, however
@_ReeMiddleChild@JustTheTweets17 The fact that you’re asserting that a black person on the jury would change this outcome based on their race alone shows you don’t care about justice
You’re just perpetuating racial politics
