@HoganSOG Battle Abbey is said to mark 'the very spot' where the Battle of Hastings took place. But new research suggests the battle could possibly have taken place much further away on the highest ground in East Sussex once known as Heathfield Down. https://t.co/HsGYqcB8iq
Battle Abbey has long marked 'the very spot'...but did the Battle of Hastings actually take place there? Evidence suggests otherwise: https://t.co/HsGYqcB8iq
@thetimeteam Did the Battle of Hastings really take place at Battle? New research published this month in the International Journal of Military History and Historiography suggests an alternative location: https://t.co/glADApbG9c

We have not seen anything like it. We can't compare this looming heat emergency to summer 1976.
A warmer world, thanks to human induced climate change, makes it almost effortless to break extreme heat thresholds. We continue to see this across the planet - not just in Europe.
For many years the cuckoo fell silent in my life. This piece, which I have just had published in 'Elsewhere: a Journal of Place', reflects on the reasons why we feel such a strong connection with the cuckoo. https://t.co/XauJiRKCHD

Tonight, just before midnight, I decided to venture out on a 3 hour, 16.5k walk in -13c weather. I wanted to see if I could do a long walk in extreme cold at night. Cold yes, but made it. I snapped these photos. #norway
It is a nice sunny morning at the lighthouse. The road here is not maintained in the winter so normally I would not be able to make it here in January. I go here almost every day if I can make it. I remember coming here once and seeing 6 moose on this field here.
I will strongly contest the political intervention to suspend me.
I’ve made absolutely clear those who deny there has been an antisemitism problem in the Labour Party are wrong.
I will continue to support a zero tolerance policy towards all forms of racism.
Seriously, why is wanting a fair, just and compassionate society which works for everyone and every living thing so radical?! I cannot fathom why we wouldn’t support those who need it, show kindness at every possible moment and value our living world 😔
