The department of Home Affairs has withdrawn its directive regarding the intake of asylum seeker applications.
It says the directive was initially given to support the implementation of the Constitutional Court ruling.
"However the attempt to practically implement the judgment immediately led to immediate consequences that could not have been foreseen in the court order"
"The department will now embark on a fresh process the most appropriate operational approach to ensure compliance with the Constitutional Court order"
