Here is something I don't understand.

At first I was told small boat crossings were a lie, confected by xenophobes & racists, designed to create panic & drive people to the far right.

Then, small boat crossings were happening but there was hardly any of them, & it was all families fleeing the most unimaginable horrors, to be concerned about them was still racist & far right.

Now, it's admitted that thousands arrive all the time, they're known to be mainly young men, many from countries with abysmal attitudes towards women & girls, hotels all around the country have been commandeered to house them, & yet concern about this is still framed as "racist" & fuelled by the "far right".

I feel incredibly gaslit.
