@GenePark i stand by the take that re6 is one of the best co-op experiences you an have. ive replayed it now with three separate skeptics and consistently everyone came away saying "weird RE game, incredible co-op".
Kind of wish it hadnt been branded RE6
@kx4nSnap@SnapDecks do you have a youtube guide on how to pilot bounce? tried to learn it but i can never figure out what lane to play and when to bounce.
@vicious696 Did you play infinite wealth? It’s my current number one (played your five, agree in different order).
Scope, narrative, presentation, haven’t seen much like it
@JezCorden natural resting position on PS controller is left thumb on dpad, right thumb on face buttons.
the dual sense sticks were tacked on way back in the PS1 era and never really moved. Offset swaps the d-pad and stick so that your natural resting position is buttons and left stick
Space marine 2 feels like a bunch of really talented folks said “damnit if you won’t give us a new gears game we’ll just make our own”.
Which oddly is how Astrobot feels, but with 3D mario
Astrobot legit feels like Kirkland brand Mario. In a good way, like I’d believe it if someone said ex Mario devs made it.
Pastiche of Mario galaxy, 3D world, and odyssey down to the end credits.
Not a bad thing, kill bill was pastiche, I’ll take more of it any day.
@John_Garvin Less reduced, more elevated to the level of other legends. It’s a validation your character made it over so many others. Hopefully you can find some pride in that in time. Congrats :)
But also why western published have struggled. In trying to build “relatable every person” characters, you’re left with a pantheon of generic characters each just defining an era of what plays most broadly.
Here’s hoping western IP owners start taking a longer view on IP
Astrobot is a masterclass in IP building, nurturing, and revival…. And it’s literally just the Nintendo playbook.
Not in a bad way, just wonderful to see literally any other publisher take a 10+ year view of IP celebration.
Also, brilliant way to both give old fans nostalgia and new fans curiosity to explore these legacy characters. Also why it’s so essential to commit to a visual identity.
Even if it doesn’t test 6-60, as long as it pleases a core and is aspirationally cosplayable, IP can endure
Also this year seems like one of those tough what defines GOTY years? Kind of how best picture is rarely the most enjoyable picture, I’m really torn between astrobot and infinite wealth.
Infinite wealth is a masterpiece, but astrobot is pure undiluted serotonin.
Hot damn, just rolled credits on infinite wealth, absolutely GOTY frontrunner. What they achieved from gameplay variety to emotional depth is unreal.
Massive payoff if you’ve followed the story, but still emotionally resonant if not.
Wish I could give a standing ovation
