Alright friends, I’ve been more of a lurker than a poster on here lately, but I’m officially joining the exodus 🫶
See you over there?! 🦋

The way landlords put rents up is out of line with other goods and services. I have a mobile phone. In my contract, there is a clause stating how any price increase will be calculated. Nothing like this in private rental contracts. Landlords can hike rents as much as they wish…
If you ever wanna know why capitalism sucks, think about how many people you've known who wanna open a 24 hour coffeeshop and bookstore (with a cat) if they ever get rich vs how many rich people ever actually open a 24 hour coffeeshop and bookstore (with a cat).
Agreed! Musical theatre has forever been an artform of adaptation. (OKLAHOMA!, HOW TO SUCCEED, LA CAGE, PHANTOM, RENT, HAMILTON)
There are different challenges when the idea isn’t adapted. But skilled and well-supported writers can write a great show from any starting point.

Kudos to all the theatres, producers, directors etc bold and brave enough to help nurture exciting new projects 🙌🏼
@mincemeatlive exists because @The_Lowry & @newdiorama supported a group of artists to write a musical that THEY came up with & were passionate about. As @MusicDJC & @AdamLenson both said at the #UKMTConference, venues/producers: support writers to spend their time writing (2/3)

Does everything have to be a musical?
Yes. If it means skilled and experienced theatre writers get the opportunity to create a new show, then yes. The answer is yes.
Also, the f*cking T*ries keep turning this island into an increasingly fascistic hellstate. Maybe we could worry about that more than some people putting on a fun new show..?
And every time someone asks that question we’re gonna turn three more unlikely concepts into a musical. We literally will not stop until there are no new shows left to write. THANK YOU.
I think this is the moment when Mandy Patinkin is supposed to step forward and still the cacophony by saying, "Order. Design. Tension. Balance. Harmony."
