Because of HB25, elem teachers have no leverage when dealing with S's and P's who see no value in completing class work or homework. Without practice, there is no growth. SB1697 makes retention highly unlikely. #txlege, why have you made apathy so easy?
If a majority of my students fail an assessment, I question my teaching and/or the assessment. I reteach and reassess. I don't just play with the numbers. When @TEAinfo fiddles with the numbers to this extent, Texas parents have to question the purpose and value of #STAAR.
Last week, I caught a news story about improved #STAAR scores for a few districts in the DFW area. Amazingly, more students accomplished Meets or Masters on the Reading test across grade levels. Good job, everyone! Truly a team effort!
When writing a lesson, I’m expected to begin with the assessment and work backward. I can’t just look at the objectives. I need to know how students will demonstrate their learning. Assessments should be appropriate measures of student learning and they should guide teaching.
Parents silenced. Kids manipulated. Doctors profiting. 'Identity Crisis' tells the stories the mainstream media won’t.

I left @BTCthinks at school. Can defronting include facing each table toward it's own whiteboard around the room? I can't remember if @pgliljedahl mentioned that in the books.
How do you decide what incentives to offer to students or staff?
Easy: None. None at all.
Don't fall into the behaviorism trap.
Don't reward expected behavior.
