i wish suicidal thoughts were an emergency. I wish someone could look at me and immediately know how sick I’ve become and say, “Oh my God, we need to get her somewhere safe.” Then I could finally be cared for without having to explain how badly I’m struggling. I could rest, get help, and wake up one day feeling like myself again. And when I leave, someone would hug me and say, “You made it. You’ve been so brave. I’m so glad you’re still here. I love you
It's wild how authorities banked on our silence. When officials normalise policing what we wear, everyone else treats it as a rule and a license to harass us. Without accountability for that rhetoric, we're guaranteed to circle right back to square one, with even higher stakes.
I think I speak for most that committing suicide goes out the window when you have people who love you.
Because perhaps you don’t care about your life.
But you know deep down that killing yourself would cause pain to your loved ones.
And that alone is enough to keep living.
You live for them.
Not for yourself.
as a former journalist, & a former employee at an agency that, among other things organised concerts, i beseech our 'media houses' to always send their A game staff to the airport to receive artists.
''lema, lema, lema, anada banda'' among others i have heard, is embarazzing
The amount of tweets I’ve drafted is actually insane!
Too covered-Turabatera amatsiko
Too short-Turabater’irari
You talk-wahagez’ute?, wambay’iki?
You don’t-Nonese nimutavuga muzarenganurwa gute?
You tell: Uriya ni onorable warasaze…
The list is long, it’s exhausting…
A REMINDER TO THE RESPONSIBLE YET SILENT
Women’s rights are not a parade for funding, cocktail parties or your paycheck to eat off.
Women’s rights exist because of our everyday horrors as women.
Women’s rights are very serious to us.
You must remain accountable.
OUR BODIES ARE NOT A CRIME.
Women deserve dignity, bodily autonomy, safety and the freedom to move through public life without fear.
We reject the policing, harassment and violence against women in Rwanda.
