I get so sad when people come in and say "these are my guilty pleasure books."
I know it's a throwaway phrase that we use a lot, but pause and think. Why do you feel guilty about taking pleasure in literature?
This is such a hard world to live in. Grab joy where you find it.
I’ve never understood the ‘magic penis’ thing being used as a negative for romance novels. Life is way too short to read about a penis that is anything less than magic.
Today I learned I will never be a great reader/writer bc I prefer likeable characters and happy endings. V sad my enjoyment of pleasure is a permanent obstacle literary accomplishment.
I'll start off 1800s Week with Ira Aldridge (1807-1967), Shakespearean actor who performed in major cities throughout Europe. Théophile Gautier said in one review, Aldridge was “Othello himself, as Shakespeare has created him…quiet, reserved, classic and majestic.”
I made a rec list of romances to read when times are hard. “Medicine for Melancholy: Romance Novels to Get You Through Tough Times” https://t.co/REjjzkDGJ9
