@jesshopp@maggieserota Maybe my 5th concert was JA/Rollins Band at Deer Creek Music Center in IN. I’d seen The Stones, Metallica and GNR. JA had more impact. They setup close like they were in a club, only stage stuff was catholic gear draped everywhere. Vocal delay was a noise vortex.
@GoodWillsmith I don’t know if Seymour Stein coined the term but Sire Records was pushing it early on. “Blank Generation serves as the anthem of the New Wave…”
@MarkRichardson Me too! Definitely an era. Trying to compartmentalize this some way that’s like “Self titled is number one for songs. The Fawn is number one for production.”
rec of the day: HEAVENLY BODIES "universal resurrection" (petty bunco LP) not out yet, but worth watching for - this glimmering philly trio's new instrumental push into the spinning rings of saturnian slow-psych. equal parts ambiance and hallucinogens.

@d____strange I do try and be aware who the most egregious offenders of not paying people are in the current world, and it’s interesting to me that YouTube is the worst and biggest, but Spotify gets all the heat.
@d____strange Streaming vs. physical debate is low stakes for me. Never been at risk of making money in any format. I also listen to mostly unavailable shit, but on unpaid YouTube. There’s not much ethical consumption of recorded music.
