Do you actually look forward to NFL schedule release videos or do you not work in social? Lol
What started as a simple schedule announcement has somehow become one of the most creative days of the year for brands, teams, agencies, and creators. And it's something I wish we saw more of.
What were your favorite release videos this year?
Always fun to put podcast guests on the spot to see how they really think.
We put Erin Balsa through a game of "Cut or Invest?" and asked her to make some tough marketing decisions in real time.

Super pumped for Maverick to now be working with the legendary travel brand Travel and Leisure with my buddy, Kyle.
Maverick is really turning into the agency for Travel brands that want to do social first content well.
Excited to keep building. Let's go [TAG] Kyle Benzion!
One of the hardest things about entrepreneurship is being patient enough for your reality to catch up with your dreams
As someone who has big ideas, and big dreams, it can be very hard and taxing to wait for those dreams to become a reality.
You can fill behind
You can feel broken
You can feel not good enough
But the truth is
All those dreams and big ideas are what will make you great, learning patience is what will make you content.
This is one of the hardest things I’m learning
The most underrated marketing channel might already be sitting inside your company. Not because they're marketers.
Because they're people. People trust people more than logos. They connect with faces more than brands. And they pay attention to stories from real humans long before they pay attention to another corporate post.
This conversation really hit close to home as someone who has been advocating for social media managers for years lol.
I sat down with Melissa Dawson, Global Social Lead at WD (Western Digital), who put words to something a lot of us have felt.

I generally think NBA officials get it right or at least make a very concerted effort to do so.
The no call on the goal tend, followed by not giving Mitch Johnson a challenge and a technical is one of the more incompetent things I’ve seen in sports
Just when the Spurs were starting a run:
1. No goal tend even if it was clear
2. Gives possession to OKC even if the ball goes off the foot of Chet
3. Ignores Mitch Johnson’s call for a replay
4. Awards FTs to SGA after a flop
5. Calls a tech on Mitch.
All in a span of 2 mins. Adam Silver and @OfficialNBARefs really rigging this for OKC huh.
This is what happens when a product markets itself.
Former @EASPORTS Head of Digital Content, Tiffany Everett shared with me why this was one of the easiest products she’s ever had to market… because the community already cared that much.

I thought leaving corporate would be the biggest risk.

Not sure if this is a hot take but no one talks about it.
I’ve you have an avg Social Strategy or mediocre content your better off putting your people and dollars elsewhere.
But if you want build a real brand, there is no better investment that a bold social strategy with breakout entertaining content.
And don’t tell me it can’t be done.
I know a pancake restaurant getting millions of views
A prep school getting millions of views
Brands have got to start holding themselves accountable to relentless creativity or just pack it up.
A first time entrepreneur picked up the phone called me yesterday and said
I need some advice
I gave him a lot of thoughts, but the one thing that stood out for me was
You gotta love the game of entrepreneurship
It’s like a puzzle with no directions
There is no perfect answer
Entrepreneurship is not for everyone, but for those people they can get excited about the game of it all, every day they want to be in the game they love the fact that they gotta figure out hiring and services and process and culture
When things go bad and they find a creative solution for something they feel excited that they’re in the game
Too often as entrepreneurs we focus too much on the gap versus the gain
The gap says we’re still not there yet. We have too far to go we’re behind. We don’t have this. We don’t have this we don’t have
But by focusing on the gain, you look behind you and see you see how far you come you see all the accomplishments, the teams that you built the money you’ve made
Focusing on the gap creates anxiety, stress feeling less than
Focusing on the gain feels limitless, optimistic, productive
As entrepreneurs, we will be more successful if we spend more time thinking about the gain then the gap
