I first learned about Geoffrey Canada many years ago from my dad, who always believed a person’s zip code should never define their potential. Ever since I became an educator, I’ve followed Geoffrey’s work with deep admiration. Yesterday, I had the honor of hearing him speak in person, and his words reignited my purpose. His passion for community, equity, and hope moved me. As he closed with this poem, I was reminded why this work matters so deeply. I can only hope to be half the educator he is.
Great start to the week visiting schools with State Board of Education member Daniel Foganholi.
Always inspired by the incredible work happening in our classrooms and the dedication of our OCPS teachers and staff! @EducationFL
Students independently designed and built houses using recycled materials, aiming to make them strong enough to survive an earthquake. This creative project was inspired by our reading of Earthquakes by Sneed B. Collard III. After completing their designs, students presented their work and tested their houses using a fan to simulate an earthquake. It was a fun and hands-on way to connect reading with science, while practicing problem-solving and engineering skills.

What do you mean Legos aren’t for ELA?? @OrangeCenterEle created their Lego settings along with showing the rising action and the character’s action. Making learning come to life in 4th grade!
Honored to be recognized during Orlando Pride’s Woman of Pride at tonight’s game. A moment to recognize woman throughout the Orlando community. I am honored and thankful to work in the 32805 community each day. Even one of my former students was there to cheer me on. 💜
Yesterday, @OrangeCenterEle staff, toured our neighborhood with @LiftOrlando as our tour guide. We learned the history of our neighborhood while learning more about the work Lift is doing for our community. A special thank you to West Lakes Early Learning Center and the Oakridge and Jones interns who made us the most delicious meal from Legacy Cafe!
Goal! ⚽️ Our @OrangeCenterEle Tigers earned their stripes (and numbers!) with the Jerseys for Good Grades program! Thank you to @orlandohealth & @OrlandoCitySC for recognizing their hard work.
