@mrsmcknight104 We used to have a community meeting - I would pick a kid and ask three specific questions:
1) How are you feeling? (has to be a real feeling!)
2) What is your goal?
3) Who can you ask for help?
Then that kid would ask the next kid and so on until we all answered - adults too!
@ToniMcCloe1 We love this book you gifted to Max, Mom Mom! I was so stunned by it, I bought a copy for Aubrey's therapist. It is just the perfect book!<3 - Jackie
@ShanaVWhite I don't have enough time in my day to do all the special ed paperwork I need to do, let alone teach, lesson plan, respond to daily student & parent needs, etc. I was even busy keeping up on maternity leave. Weekends/summers/holiday break will have to wait until after I retire.
@TeacherHattie @mrsjjee @Schoology I got booted off Schoology pretty regularly throughout the summer. It seemed like at least once a week, something went wrong and all of a sudden I was staring at an error screen.
@DonegalSchools families came out to thank #teachers today. It's always nice to feel the love 💚🤍 I'm terrified, but I'm equally excited to see my kids on Tuesday so it's currently a whole bag of mixed emotions, but this was a nice Friday morning surprise #enen1t
@TechTalkinTami @Maire_from_NJ Yes! I have nothing positive to say about that teacher. Glad we are done with 2nd grade and done with that entire district.
@runandrant For my ES Classroom:
To our teachers, admin, & classmates: please take responsibility for the energy you bring into this space.
Your words & actions matter. We, for whom this space is our safety & support, matter.
Please take a deep breath & bring + energy into our space.
@Marie23005414 @educatorbarnes @JayWamsted Unlike any other profession, teachers working from home have hundreds of students and their parents holding them accountable for their time and productivity not just during school hours but literally 24/7.
I'm not ignoring that it's a challenge just to get them INTO the online format, but there are opportunities for #relationshipbuilding in online formats with struggling kids who have behavior needs in f2f learning. Instead of behavior problems, we can have behavior choices.
#ZoomClasses give us new opportunities - almost every single one of my #EmotionalSupport#EBD#students was comfortable on #Zoom where they had options they lacked at school. They could turn off their camera so they didn't have to feel watched. They could choose their name.
What a way to build trust. I bet in a long term situation, some of our kids w/ the most difficult classroom behaviors might start engaging more than ever if we demonstrated to them that we trusted them & were willing to wait and give them space to exercise their autonomy.
Like most #teachers, I've been spending much of my time this summer creating lessons and curriculum that can with in either an in person or virtual (or both?!) format. But the question that's been on my mind this week is - which platform?! I have two in mind... (Thread)
Now I'm wondering if one might be better than the other, or if I can use them together. Keeping in mind that I only teach small groups and 1:1, what would you do? What do you use? What other platforms should I be looking at? 🤔🤔🤔
