I think we need to have a conversation about how itโs extremely difficult to find braiders that respect the integrity of 4c hair in Nigeria.
They treat natural hair like itโs a disease, you have to come retouched, washed, with no added products.
My last stylist would make me wash my hair before coming, no products in, sheโd use gel on the hair, dry, no product and still use a rat tail comb and god forbid my hair was โdue for retouchingโ, itโd be said with such disgust. After a few appointments with her, I lost almost all my hair and my edges.
Itโs very disgraceful that we as Africans despise our natural hair so much. Itโs deeply rooted in self hate. Same thing with bleaching.
Iโm thankful I switched and Iโm now transitioning to natural hair.
