It’s heartening to see how people from all sections of Pakistani society came together to try to defend their country against external aggression, no matter which race or region or religion they are from, and a sense of unity seemed to prevail whether on the streets and markets or chats on twitter and whtsapp. However, challenges are far from over I believe. Following points in this regard should be considered:
1. Government & Military Establishment should make sure that this sense of unity remains intact. For this, they need to immediately re-engage with PTI leadership to negotiate on all matters and release all the political prisoners who have been unfairly detained including Imran Khan. This will be a huge step to create political goodwill & unity in Pakistan, specially this will immensely motivate the youth and overseas Pakistanis to further play their role for the betterment of the country.
2. Imran Khan & PTI Leadership needs to realize that entities like Afghan Taliban are not strategic assets and are detrimental to the ideological well-being and security of Pakistani public so they should cooperate with the Government and Establishment to create a comprehensive plan to rid our society of the influence and physical presence of terrorist proxies and organizations like these.
3. Government should immediately take steps to listen to the fair demands of the people of Baluchistan and resolve their issues.
4. The minorities in Pakistan need to be protected from extremist organizations and steps should be taken to give them equal rights as citizens of Pakistan. We have clearly seen that people from all the religious backgrounds, whether Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs, Christians or Ahmedis came forward at the time of need to defend our land in whatever capacity possible. This sense of Unity for the common cause of defending our land should continue to flourish in the society. This will also put pressure on the Government of India to treat muslims and other minorities over there fairly.
