“Life becomes unfamiliar before it becomes meaningful. Give yourself permission to evolve.” - Hafsat Aliyu
To every woman building quietly right now whose current season feels confusing:
A pause is not the end of your story. It’s just room being made for what’s next.
In 2019, I started The Fepreneur. Then life happened, I lost momentum, and I had to pause.
Today, our first full episode is finally live on YouTube—and there is no one I’d rather launch with than Hafsat Aliyu of northernlightsevents. 🧵👇
She took ONE balloon class, spent late nights teaching herself floral design and event architecture, and built a business that has secured contracts with the Government House and clients across Nigeria.
4 lessons from her journey: 🧵👇
How do you build a multi-million-naira business when you start with zero capital?
When Hafsat Aliyu started @northernlightsevents_, she had no outside investors, no warehouse, and no corporate background in event production.
In university, Hafsat wanted one thing: to be a writer.
Then her mom gave her a hard reality check: writing wasn’t going to bring money anytime soon, but the crafts she was making and selling—baking cakes and making beads—were.
When you’re deep in early motherhood, you don’t always notice you’re losing yourself. You’re just trying to survive.
Hafsat had lost the version of herself she loved most. Her husband saw it before she did, and he kept reaching for her.

She had a plan for a PhD. Then life paused everything.
What she built from her living room with toddler chaos and borrowed tools across Kaduna & Abuja is one of the most grounding stories I've ever recorded.

4/ Stop making your brand the hero. Your customer is the hero; your product is just the guide helping them overcome an obstacle.
🧵 The Waist Trainer Lesson: Why nobody cares about your features.
1/ The first time I bought a waist trainer, I didn't care about the fabric specs. I bought the feeling of hope and status that I had conquered tummy fat.
2/ Customers (online or offline) never buy products. They buy:
- Relief from daily stress
- A sense of belonging
- Feeling capable & confident
- Status & pride
(2/2) Building @thefepreneur isn't about having all the answers. It’s about creating a safe space for real stories so none of us feel crazy for showing up.
Attempting to convince you to believe in us again 🤭 🤍
🧵 (1/2) You only ever see the polished comeback on social media.
You don't see the DaVinci timeline open at 2:00 AM, the deleted drafts, or the days you stare at your screen wondering where your spark went.
You don't have to have it figured out. You just have to be in it. Which woman are you right now? Drop your answer below — I read every single one.
