Looking through one of our stores and came across these old bass drums.

On display is a Rope Tension drums belonging the Hamilton Flute Band in Londonderry. These drums were presented to the 10th Bn The Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers in France in WW1 and afterward presented to the Hammies at the end of the war.

Lurgan Amateur Flute Band was a good marching and contesting band. In 1971 they sold their Crown AZ flutes to change to Silver Boehm system flutes. Sadly the band is no longer going.

Boosey & Hawkes used to send out promotional pieces of Music to attract bands to buy.

William Barton Blythe, Conductor and March Composer.

A Bandmaster in the Royal Irish Rifles and a prisoner of war during WW1.

He conducted many of our top flute bands but was famous for conducting Argyle Temperance Flute Band.

Bit of polishing done today but finally the black trophy is now shining again, this 109 year old Silver trophy was awarded to the Ulster Amateur Flute Band from Belfast, they won it at an International Band Contest in White City, Manchester in 1911.
