“Food has become dangerous and thrilling at the same time. But I refuse to let my fear steal my joy and am determined to have a maximalist life” — Alice Wong, @SFDirewolf https://t.co/MgtUKeC1Bt
This is a very personal piece about my undying desire for food as a person who uses a feeding tube for nutrition 🍨🥟🍜🍟
Thank you to @eater & @asteriskerin for publishing it! Shout out to @bettinamak@ChefRoyChoi@choibites who fed my cravings w/ their posts

The close out the series, we have Natura Morta, inspired by Giorgio Morandi's works that deliberately painted everyday items very plainly without labels and leveraged compositional balance to create a sense of tranquility. I added kitchen items I had growing up in this piece.
Next up is my Black Iris, inspired by the great Georgia O'Keeffe. The black iris is native to southern China and Myanmar and has historically symbolized royalty, wisdom, and valor. Used a velvet-like brush to capture the luxurious mystery the flower represents to me.
Next up is my Durian Plate, which is clearly a play on Judy Chicago’s Dinner Party, particularly the Mary Wollsonecraft plate. I highlighted the contrasting spiky exterior with a softer interior to depict the complex nature of this deeply misunderstood fruit.
Next in the Asian American Still Life project is inspired by Tom Wesselmann's collage of everyday objects that captured the advertising aesthetic of his time, particularly the All American nostalgia. I included supermarket finds from 99 Ranch here. #digitalartwork
Next in the Asian American still life series is "Asian Cheeses, Napa Cabbage, Goji and Amla Berries", inspired by female Dutch painter Clara Peeters' "Still Life with Cheeses, Artichoke, and Cherries". #illustration#digitalartwork
The next Asian American still life is "Cakes and Treats", inspired by Wayne Thiebaud's "Cakes and Pies". I took Thiebaud's colorful vibe to draw favorite bakery treats, including mochi, pineapple cakes, shaved ice, mung bean soup, and bubble tea. #illustration#digitalartwork
Next in the Asian American still life series, we have "Green Yakult Containers" that was obviously inspired by Warhol's "Green Coca Cola Bottles". I made the popular probiotic drink from childhood into green little bottles to mirror Warhol's piece. #illustration#digitalartwork
@heymarci Thank you for the love! And she definitely does not know...yet! That would be such a dream - I found her work through this project and trying to find female artists to draw inspiration from, and it's my favorite of the series.
The next Asian American still life is "Nostalgic Vanity", inspired by Audrey Flack's "Chanel". I drew Tiger Balm, a pomelo, a jade bracelet, lychee, a pincushion, and lipsticks and perfume into my take on Flack's hyperrealistic artwork. #illustration#digitalartwork
