For the last few nights a cricket - or grasshopper? - has been chirruping away loudly for hours. Don’t remember hearing them here in urban Oxfordshire in previous summers. Identification help please?
Anyone recognise this lovely wallpaper please? It’s used at IKEA Reading in one of their show rooms and I’d like to try and buy some, or similar. #botanical#wallpaper
January 10th, and a rose bud popped open this morning. Strange anyway this early in the year, but why a pink flower on Claire Austin, usually cream tinged with yellow?
A properly dank, unfriendly day. But surprisingly the garden is still hanging on, with roses, cosmos, a tangle of dark clematis viticella and sulphurous evening primroses all bringing cheer.
Eeek, it's nearly father's day! To celebrate give us a retweet & follow to #win one of our Football table biscuit tins - #Competition ends on Wednesday (8.1.18) Good luck!
Dear councils,
If left to grow - and cut annually like traditional hay meadows - 1000s of miles of #roadverges could be beautiful wildflower havens! You'll save taxpayers cash too 🐝

@gardener_the@gardener_the we’ve had a couple of starlings too in our apple tree in the last couple of days, argumentative and blustering. Amazing to think my mother used to chase starlings away, I was thrilled to see some, first time in many years.
"Over the land freckled with snow half-thawed
The speculating rooks at their nests cawed
And saw from elm-tops, delicate as flower of grass,
What we below could not see, Winter pass."
Hoping for Winter's end soon as we celebrate poet #EdwardThomas, who was born #onthisday 1878
40 of our hives STOLEN! Taken from near Fringford/Bicester. Gutted! Most of our strong stock back from moors in winter spot. See before and after pics. They left a few with dodgy lids. Please RETWEET. #BeeFarmer#honey#honeybees#Bees
