@jpalmiotti All worth seeing, but my favorite of the holiday releases was The Count of Monte Cristo. It it's playing nearby, you should give that a chance. They just don't make movies like that anymore.
@jpalmiotti Seeing that scene for the first time made me giddy. Saw it three times on the big screen and would have gone more had it had the success it deserved.
How about the House add campaign finance reform to the CR so Republicans and Democrats alike can stop being so scared about what a billionaire man-child thinks before they vote on anything around here
Parasite is not anti-capitalist because it's about how rich people are bad and poor people are good. It is about how capitalism operates on inhumane, dehumanizing logic and that advancement within that system necessitates immoral action and promotes a culture of cyclical violence
I am an independent researcher/engineer in machine learning & don't support the approach big tech is using by scraping tons of data without respecting consent & copyrights then compressing it into models & unleashing the models to compete against the same original sources.
Generosity rarely starts with an offer of help. It often begins with a question about what others need.
Even those close to us face invisible hardships. The best way to give is to ask about their challenges.
We don't always have a solution, but we can always make them feel seen.

@SaraFrazetta@jpalmiotti@AnandWrites At the end of the day, it's all about doing the most good you can within in your circle. It's less about saving the world and the more about making sure those around us are a little happier and less burdened because of our connection. That stuff cascades. The world improves.
@SaraFrazetta@jpalmiotti Dig into that Patagonia story a little and it's a little less altruistic than one might think. @AnandWrites 's "Winners Take All" was pretty influential in my perspective. Even Bruce Wayne's use of his Billions is at best questionable.
@jpalmiotti@SaraFrazetta If billionaires cared about the environment or their fellow travelers on this big blue marble, they never would've achieved billionaire status in the first place. There's simply no clear ethical path for achieving that level of wealth.
What is the point of trying?
NYT has an interesting story today about China being the top manufacturer of cars now.
I can’t share it because @elonmusk coded the site to not allow NYT links. And if I strip it, the article will be deprioritized in the algo.
