Trading 5 guys for a RP with a 6.79 ERA might feel weird, but Aaron Bummer had ..
3.53 xERA
3.62 FIP
3.81 DRA
Not at all hard to see what the Braves are doing here, especially for a guy who'd been quite good over the last few years, and for pieces who didn't fit them
I’ve had Jeff Sh*ltz muted for years. I unmuted for a brief moment today to see what all the fuss was about and quickly realized it’s way better living in a world where I don’t ever see his tweets.
I don’t think it’s mutually exclusive to view the 2023 season as a resoundingly fun success and an abject postseason failure that demands at least a little shakeup.
Anyway, as an org, for the last four seasons we’ve been to Game 7 of the NLCS, won the World Series, and won over 100 games twice while losing in the NLDS. There’s no need for a complete dismantling of the team. There’s no need to fire everyone and start again.
Spencer Strider with a masterclass on accepting defeat, responsibility (it's been lacking from certain players, execs this postseason):
"The people trying to use the playoff format to make an excuse for the results they don't like are not confronting the real issue. You're in control of your focus, your competitiveness, your energy. If having five days means you can't make the adjustment, you have nobody to blame but yourself."
Can’t be mad at anything other than the offense, now. Just a really pathetic showing from the bats. The team pitched well enough to win the series. One half inning left to pull a miracle.
