🎬 A documentary. A powerful story. A growing effort to silence it.
Director Laura Brickman (@lfbrickman) opens up about the making of “The General,” discussing the inspiration behind the film, the obstacles faced during production, and the controversy that followed its release.
Following an event at the European Parliament on transnational repression, MEP @saskiabricmont revealed that Vietnamese authorities attempted to intimidate Members of the European Parliament ahead of a screening of The General: Vietnam in the Age of To Lam.

Transnational repression can’t silence truth 📣
Since the release of “The General: Vietnam in the Age of To Lam,” the Vietnamese government has attempted to use various tactics to stop several screenings with limited success.
The types of intimidation the film has faced shows Hanoi's true fear about what this film reveals and the state is attempting to intensify its methods to stop distribution of the film, which Director Laura Brickman takes as a compliment! 😉
