Meet the Mason Nation: Ashanti Mumin and Bunji
Police Corporal and K9 Officer Ashanti Mumin, who joined Mason in February 2022, recently transferred to Mason’s Police Crisis Response Unit, which handles calls for mental health service. Bunji, an Aussiedoodle therapy dog, accompanies Mumin during his calls. “Bunji has been a great addition to the team,” said Mumin. Bunji and Mumin respond to calls from students who are in emotional distress, but Bunji is also there to support his fellow officers.

Our Public Safety Cadets recently received valuable hands-on training flying UAVs and learned their important law enforcement applications. Thank you FCSO ECS S. Ashby and @thegmupd
Recently, @k9sforwarriors donated a career changed service dog named “Bunji” to @thegmupd Crisis Response & Peer Support team.
Bunji now serves alongside Corporal Mumin providing love on four legs to community members experiencing various #MentalHealth needs.

On this day 37 years ago, Jeanne Clery, a 19 year old freshman student at Lehigh University was tragically sexually assaulted and murdered while in her campus residence hall. After the death of their daughter, Jeanne’s parents worked tirelessly to pass a campus safety law aimed at protecting campus communities.
Today, thousands of universities and colleges follow the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (“The Clery Act”) (20 U.S. Code § 1092(f)), a federal law that requires colleges and universities to disclose information about campus emergencies, campus crime activity, campus security policies, and more.
