My 80-year-old mother loves watching #PGA golf.
This year, as a holiday gift, I bought her an entry to a One-And-Done (#OAD) contest.
She's excited to play but didn't really understand the strategy. So, I put together a guide for her.
Coming soon!
The first pre-Q of the year happened yesterday for the Sony.
John Oda shot a little 63 to lead. Among the others getting thru
Patrick Flavin
Andrew Yun
Grant Booth
Trevor Gutschewski (Tour member Scott G’s 16-year old son)
Cameron Kuchar (Matt’s kid)

Anyone looking for a One-And-Done (OAD) to enter before the season starts next week at the Sony👇
OAD is one my favorite ways to play fantasy golf and I'm entered into 3 of these at different price points.
*I have no affiliation with Fantasy Golf Championships
The Sony Open tees off in about one week... meaning you have one week to enter OAD contests on FGC!
With the Race for @ThePME Cup over 2/3 full, it is bound to fill sooner, so jump in now and don't miss out on over 7 months of fun⛳️

Not much possibility of a weather advantage for players teeing it up at #TheSentry in Kapalua.
Tee times range from 7:45 - 11:39 AM local time.
Looks like 50+% chance rain and a bit windier starting at 1 PM both days.
If you were to bet $100 on one player every time he tees it up on the #PGATour this season, who ya got?
I'll start,
For me, it's between three guys: Xander, Cantlay & Ludvig.
I'm going with Schauffele

Homa ($9.7K)
Hatton ($9.2K)

Most OAD (One And Done) contests start next week with the #SonyOpen.
But, if your OAD starts this week at #TheSentry, don't be afraid to fire a big gun.
This week is a Signature Event with a $20M purse, a short field (59 players) and $3.6M to the winner.
PGA DFS is pretty much roulette. But here are some things to consider to make it feel less like a game of chance:
Weather
- You can’t start clicking without consulting the weather. A players tee time can impact their ability to make the cut. It’s clear in the numbers @TheDegenerate75 has tracked: Guys $7500 and below are making the cut more often in the “better” wave.
Ownership
- No one can perfectly predict ownership ahead of time, but you can usually guess who the chalk will be. Generally, the popular higher priced players are “good” chalk and the lower priced popular players are “donkey” chalk. Be careful because sometimes Ownership turns out to be a Power Rankings.
Structure your Lineup
- DK prices golfers for a reason. Spend all the money and start with at least one $9k+ name. I love to pepper the $8k range, but if you are trying to take down a GPP try the @SweetSpotDFS method for building a lineup: $10k, $9k, $8k, $7k, $7k, $6k.
Contest Selection
- A1… what are your goals? Do you wanna win $1m? If yes, you probably gotta get weird. The contest you select should dictated the type of lineup you create. The bigger the GPP, the crazier the clowns you need to click.
Price of Player
- Sometimes @DraftKings pricing algorithm spits out a free square, don’t be afraid to embrace it. Or, if someone is “overpriced” maybe that can be a leverage play.
Type of Player
- You know who scores the most DK points? The erratic players. We want the birdie makers. We need the guys who go for the green. As much as we want a steady cut maker, we want to embrace the aggressive players.
Clown
- Every lineup you make, you need to include one clown click. What’s a clown? Someone unserious, that no one else wants or is out of form, that on occasion or at a moment’s notice can find themselves in contention. These low owned risky flyers can help your lineup skyrocket up a GPP leaderboard.
Stats
- Stats in golf are helpful, like, if we notice on @fantasynational that a bad putter putted too good. But Strokes Gained has its flaws. And every week SG: Stats lead everyone to the same names. Fading the weekly model darlings could be a viable strategy in the long run.
Course History
- These professionals like what they like and are comfortable with certain courses. Grass type, region, proximity to college or family; factor a narrative into your 6 man parlay.
Recent Form
- Look back at the most recent leaderboards to see who is playing decently recently. No one is Tiger Woods, these guys can only be good for so long at a time. But when they are hot, ride ‘em! Consult @SmartGolfInfo for CH & RF.
Watch Golf
- Watching golf is almost impossible with the overall lack of coverage or the number of commercials during the already limited coverage. So, track shot tracker, know the names and follow the trends. Trust yourself! Your own gut can be the most valuable tool you have.
It’s never one thing
- Almost every tournament Top 10 boasts a variety of skillsets and player types. Your lineup should also have a variety of players. Even during “bomber” weeks, a plodder can find his way into a GPP winning lineup. On a regular basis "good" players end up playing bad and "bad" players play good. Flowers wilt and clowns emerge as Kings. That’s what makes #PGADFS so irritatingly fun to play.
