Gentle reminder:
A few minutes spent in feeling objective remorse and weeping over the sins of your childhood is more effective for repairing the ills of Modernity than any political action you plan.
Today I had a surprise video debate at an AI company apparently in a conference hall.
Asked why I for decades said The Keepers Of The Status Quo at Wikipedia is really bad training to reach AGI.
I played this James Burke video.
It silenced the room!
@mwright92@WeilToGo Our Common Father Creator simply loves His creatures as they tend toward Him. Maybe perfection is mirroring God's simple love for his creatures, no matter where they are.
@mwright92@WeilToGo The typical story about perfection is that it happens later, in heaven. But this brings a host of critics accusing us of failings. Maybe perfection is being where you NEED to be in a process towards the proper end.
Most disappointing interactions with people can be resolved by someone saying, "Wow. Maybe I f***Ed up. Can we try again?" If the interlocutor doesn't have the ability to give you the grace to try again, maybe the relationship isn't worth your effort.
@nicotinedreamin I once had access to a Latin dictionary that was used by a canonist in Rome in the mid 20th Century. It had amazing notes and additions he made as new technological and philosophical ideas were introduced. He added them in the margins where they belonged in the text. Very cool.
@nicotinedreamin Depends on the book. I'm a big fan if it's something you are going to study again, such as certain philosophical or sacred texts. However, not a fan if it's a library book or a book that belongs to someone else. "Dog earing" however, is always terrible. Use a bookmark.
