Starting with our performance at Bandshell Park tonight and for the remainder of the 2026 season, members of the Cyclone Marching Band will wear a Black & Gold pin with an outline of the state of Iowa and the letters “DIFD,” in honor of Derek Phillips, a member of the Hawkeye Marching Band who passed away earlier this week.
At the conclusion of our concert, we will also pay tribute to Derek and honor his Hawkeye Marching Band family, with a playing of “Alma Matter Iowa” alongside our alma matter the “Bells of Iowa State.” While these songs hold a special place in the heart of all members of Iowa State University & the University of Iowa, we know how deeply they resonate with our band members, alumni, and staff.
We’re excited to see the HMB perform tomorrow and wish them the best of luck, but also…Go Cyclones!
🖤💛♥️

The accusation that I am antisemitic is appalling and fundamentally dishonest. Criticizing the actions of the Israeli prime minister, a military technology contract, or the executives who supply it is not the same as criticizing Jewish people. This critical and necessary dialogue is then dishonestly framed as being anti-Israel. To be clear, my views come from my own political convictions and should never be interpreted as hostility toward Jewish people, for whom I have deep love and respect. Everything I know about acting, activism, and humanism has been profoundly shaped by the Jewish friends, colleagues, and loved ones who have been integral and family throughout every point of my life.
This merger has real consequences for real people, and for the entire country. Scrutinizing the Ellisons, including Oracle’s business built on data, surveillance technology and government contracts, and the serious threat to editorial freedom and the loss of a livelihood for thousands of families, is fair and necessary. The $111 billion deal would hand one family control over CNN, HBO and Warner Bros., backed in part by foreign money whose influence on editorial decisions has never been fully explained to the public.
Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have called for serious national security review, and regulators still haven’t given the public a real answer. Until they do, the merger shouldn’t move forward. Now is the time to dive boldly into all these issues, not step back or concede.
I’m NOT sorry for the person I’ll become when I finally see the “pick a wife for the Moon Prince” banquet animated. You all will be in the gutter with me 🫵🏼
IM TIRED OF SEEING DISCOURSE ONLINE THAT IS FUNDAMENTALLY INCORRECT ABOUT MY BELIEFS AND POLITICAL VIEWS SO NOW IM ADDRESSING IT.

I need my real ones to know where I stand, once and for all:
As some of you know, throughout my career I have vocally, publicly stood up for, and financially supported a few of the causes and groups that I’m passionate about. These have included the rights for a free and independent Palestinian state; the LGBTQ+ community and its rights and more.
I have put my money where my mouth is all the time and I have rejected highly remunerative brand deals with companies with who did not align with my values.
RE: the use of the term “Israeli” people use to comment on anything they don’t like. All it does is really shows your ignorance. When you use that word, and blame an entire people, it delegitimizes the cause and normalizes the actions of a genocidal state, without mentioning how it fuels antisemitism. There are tons of examples of Israelis who oppose the occupation, and will continue to oppose until things change.
