@aporia9n@nycmm54 If they mention debt without mentioning assets then they’ve lost the plot. I am begging people to become financially literate and they refuse.
@SorenLissner Your people regularly are rated some of the happiest in the world, and I think if not having this kind of stadium is the price, it is one that many nations would pay proudly
@LUFC1992_v2@jackstackbbq Oh they do some stuff better and we do some stuff better. Really just a matter of taste, but it’s definitely a point of contention!
@DKingTelegraph Full of American 'Jocks'. The sort called McDougall and they travel to Scotland to buy a family tartan scarf and a bottle of whisky. The real scots either can't afford to go or refuse to go.
@MSephirot I’d still argue the Texas point but ya we did absolutely take California etc. And I just realized I’ve been spamming this poor Japanese guy the whole time omg
@MSephirot@Bee_Yaah I mean.. at the time slavery was still legal here so.. but applying modern morality to historical behaviors and cultural norms is a pointless exercise
@MSephirot@Bee_Yaah Obviously my point is that it wasn’t Spain’s to begin with, just like American land has never been American, and on and on. Every nation is flawed and all we can do is try to live peacefully (except Israel it seems)
@MSephirot@Bee_Yaah I could argue with some of that but I think that’s mostly fair. Help me out though, Mexican independence was in 1821 right? The territory in California was Spanish before?
@MSephirot@Bee_Yaah The reality is the US was struggling with western expansion because of the Missouri compromise of 1820. So while yes, you did lose a couple wars, it wasn’t some secret agenda. Both countries were very young and rapidly changing.
@MSephirot@Bee_Yaah If that were true the US would have defended Texas in its fight for independence. The idea of our western expansion to the Pacific did not begin until 1845 and Texas beat Santa Anna in 1835-36.
