Swashbuckling dispatches eyeing US-#Iran politics/policy, shadow war/intrigue. Real issues (occasionally) surreally framed. Not approved by POTUS or the SL.
“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing there is a field. I'll meet you there. When the soul lies down in that grass the world is too full to talk about.” - #Rumi
This is the pivotal moment. China finally playing its cards as a global power. The outcome will be a game changer for the Middle East and U.S. China relations.
Have immersed myself in Iranian official media as well as X, TikTok, Instagram, etc. Broad observations:
1) The religious feel they've lost control of the veil issue. And yes, in upscale urban cores, you see clothes so tight and revealing, you can't believe this is Islamic Iran.
It’s simple: the oil and gas production chain here is sprawling, accessible, and exposed. American oil and gas companies across these waters and facilities share that exposure. Strike our assets and you get struck. We’ve already proven it. Ask the bases that are no longer viable.
NBC: Iranian missile and drone attacks have inflicted unprecedented damage on U.S. intelligence posts and surveillance hardware in the Middle East that is more extensive than any destruction America’s spy agencies have endured and will cost billions of dollars to repair, according to four people with knowledge of the matter.
This passage from Dostoevsky’s "The Brothers Karamazov" aptly describes the situation in which the U.S. system of governance & foreign policy regarding Iran and the region finds itself due to its extreme reliance on 'lies':
"The man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to such a pass that he cannot distinguish the truth within him, or around him, and so loses all respect for himself and for others."
The Brothers Karamazov,
Fyodor Dostoevsky
It’s worth noting that multiple Emirati government planes have flown into Iran, and subsequently departed shortly thereafter.
The UAE notoriously paid Iran $3B to be protected from future missile and drone strikes earlier in the war.
While there is currently no evidence to support the claim that the UAE is flying more cash to Iran… this is certainly a viable hypothesis for what is taking place.
