Discs were never the real story. They can already delete everything you own, and they'd rather wait you out than explain it.
PlayStation fought hard and got the previous community note on the post removed, but now they have an even better one.
According to the note, based on leaked info, they lied.
“From the Insomniac leak, PlayStation's own single-player games make up 60-77% of sales.
The data being used to argue for higher digital purchases include DLC, expansions, digital-only games such as early access, and live services.”
Buy Wolverine PHYSICALLY. Cancel you're digital pre-order and buy it physically.
Imagine how dumb these Sony execs would look if they had to show their investors a higher physical split for THEIR OWN BIG HOLIDAY TITLE after announcing they're killing physical PS games.
Sony really fucked up.
The gaming community is deep.. and they just pissed off some of the most focused humans in the world.
Thats how we should feel about Music and Film.
Fuck a Subscription to anything.
Adobe yo ass is next. You too Avid.
You're pretty much an idiot at this point if you don't realize how much of a one-sided situation they're trying to pull here. The one-sidedness against the consumer has been methodical and on clockwork.
The Playstation 5 operating system has begun systematically wiping and removing playtime hours from local profiles specifically for physical, disc-based games.
Disappointed players are framing the UI change as a highly aggressive psychological push by Sony to devalue physical ownership. By decoupling total time spent from a physical license, critics argue the publisher is subtly pushing the narrative that a borrowed, rented, or resold disc doesn't truly "belong" to the active player's permanent identity ecosystem.
You fucking god damn cowards you pieces of shit.
YOUR REMOVING GAME TIME PLAYED NOW FROM PHYSICAL COPIES!??! You absolute fucking scumlords @PlayStation
I’m going to keep beating this drum and sharing the good folks doing the digging for all to see. I’ve been saying this for years about the entire “digital trends” conversation from every publisher.
The “digital future” was never inevitable, and has been an intentional push my corporations who can now weaponize your data and love for games to maximize profits from you by building a false narrative to lure you into “the inevitable.” These “consumer trends” are finally being shown for what they are. A lie and a power grab.
This isn’t about collectors who are butthurt about losing their favorite hobby. This is bad for everybody. Including digital only players. So unless you’re someone who loves the idea of a company fleecing you by locking you into an ecosystem where they use your data to get as much money out of you as possible with “dynamic pricing,” there is absolutely no justification for this supposed “all digital future.”
72 HOURS OF SILENCE. SONY IS WAITING FOR YOU TO FORGET.
on July 1, Sony announced the end of physical PlayStation games - no more discs from January 2028. Then it vanished. Not panic - protocol.
- not a single post on any PlayStation account since the announcement, even the routine PS Plus update got skipped
- the announcement itself now wears a Community Note reminding everyone that digital means a revocable license, not ownership
- second blackout this year: after closing Bluepoint, Sony hid for 72+ hours until the anger burned out. Same playbook, bigger fire
- the timing was surgical: July 1 is day one of a new fiscal quarter - last quarter's numbers were locked before the outrage could touch them
they planned this years ago.
the silence means they just don’t care about you.
their bet: you'll forget by 2028. will you?
Quick note: PSN is region-locked. If you move to a diferent region, you need to start a new account. PlayStation still does not allow account transfers from region to region or even between family members. Example: Father to Son. This is the "all digital" future, and it sucks!
@WillOspreay@Skyebyee@ProWrestlingEVE Skye's growth since she debuted in AEW is truly impressive. I genuinely believe she'll be the world champ sooner rather than later.
PlayStation updated its Terms of Service in April 2026, and Section 21 outlines how inactive PSN accounts may be closed.
> If a PSN account remains inactive for 36 months, Sony may begin the account closure process. The account holder will receive an email notification and has 6 months to sign in or request that the account remain active.
> If no action is taken and the account is closed, access to PlayStation Network services will end.
>Any digital purchases tied to that account, including games, DLC, and other digital content, will no longer be accessible.
According to the Terms of Service, this process is irreversible.
Continue to be shocked by the amount of people who are pushing back against those pushing against Sony right now.
The least you could do is stay silent. But to fight fans who are trying to advocate for better consumer rights on PlayStation.
Like God damn man.
>You can't share or trade or sell games
That is the only reason Sony wants this.
Reminder they have hated the idea of people putting a movie on for their family in their living room for years now because they want everyone individually to purchase access.
Split screen went away for the same reason if I had to guess. Forcing all multiplayer online exclusively means that your friends have to buy a console and a game and a subscription instead of just bring a controller over like we could back in the day.
Never believe these people when they say anything is for your benefit. They're counting on you being a stupid lobotomized normie who doesn't question things.
