Our second #COLM2026 paper, led by Donggyu Lee @idonggy46923037:

As an economist, I’m interested in how AI shapes the economy and society—and how it can help us understand them. That led me to launch econai@kaist, the Economic Progress and AI Research Group at KAIST, this year. These papers are part of that journey.
Our first of two #COLM2026 papers, led by Chaemin Jang: “In-Context Examples Suppress Scientific Knowledge Recall in LLMs.”
Even correct examples can shift LLMs from using scientific laws to fitting patterns.

a bit late tweet. I just presented my multidisciplinary project with @nekozzang, "Teaching machines to measure economic activities from satellite images: challenges and solutions" at this amazing conference, organized by @JuriMarcucci & @RCorrea_econ
This is a beautifully produced video where Paul and Bob talk about how they think about science and how much they love what they do, also how their minds work in different ways and complement one another. Show it to your older kids to inspire them!
